Font Monster Lives
Grading Rubric
Overview
You’re going to create a new Photoshop composition of multiple images, combining them into a background for your Font Monster (which you’ll place into the composition). You’ll exercise your compositing skills and the placing of vector art within Photoshop.
Process
1. Sketching
—due 10/10/24
- Instead of jumping straight into Photoshop, I want you to stop and first sketch some ideas (minimum 5-6) of what your composition could look like. You can have the Font Monster in different settings, interact with different beings, or even have multiples of your Font Monster if you’d like.
- Before starting to build in Photoshop, sit down with the instructor, review your sketches, and decide which to pursue. You’re going to build the 2 best ideas.
2. Build in Photoshop
—after meeting with the instructor
- Gather the images you want to use in your compositions (you can take your own photos or use free ones from the internet, i.e. Unsplash).
- Combine your images using the selection and masking techniques we’ve learned.
- Before placing your Font Monster into each composition, you need to save a copy of just the monster (eliminate the font name, background color, etc.).
3. Submit your Work
—due 10/17/24, midnight
- Gather your 2 Photoshop compositions along with your Font Monster files into a folder. Name it LastName-Project2, compress it and upload to my DropBox. Keep copies of all artwork, you’ll be presenting your work in the next class.
