Create an eBook
Grading Rubric
Overview
You will be creating an ebook for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland using the supplied InDesign template.
Specifics
Utilizing InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator you are going to create an ePub ebook. I am supplying you with an InDesign template to get you started along with a text file containing the book text to copy into place. You will need to design a cover and create an illustration/photo to be used on each first page of a chapter (you can use Adobe’s new AI tools for the chapter page images). Be creative!
Start by creating a new Pinterest board and gathering inspirational imagery for your cover design and inspiration for your chapter images. These are to inspire your creative process (you can not use these actual images for the book). Next, sketch 5-6 ideas for your book cover. Once satisfied with these, meet with the instructor to discuss your design plan.
Create your book cover in Photoshop or Illustrator (pick the best tool for your style of art) and then place it in InDesign. Then start customizing the rest of the book pages, including flowing the book text into each chapter (place the full text for the first three chapters). Don’t forget to replace the Chapter Title text (on the Table of Contents page as well).
Once completed, export your eBook as an ePub file.
Project Submission
Use InDesign’s Package command (in the File menu; InDesign’s Package Command video) to gather all of your files into a folder named LastName-Project4. Add your final ePub file to that folder and compress the folder, then upload the resulting zip file to my DropBox account.
