Week 10: Creative Meetings, InDesign Intro

Intro to this Week

We’re reversing tutorial/class time with lab time this week. You’ll be using your classroom time for lab, to be researching, brainstorming and shooting video for your cinemagraph and having creative meetings with the instructor. At home you have about 50 minutes worth of videos to watch introducing you to our next software application, InDesign.

This Week’s Work

In-Class: Creative Meetings

In lab you have the opportunity to show me your inspirational images and discuss your cinemagraph ideas. Let me know when you’re ready.

InDesign Introduction

InDesign is publishing software, traditionally used for print documents like advertisements, brochures, business cards, and posters. It is now also able to generate digital files by exporting to EPUB and SWF for eBooks. You can also use it to export to PDFs (I use it to create the PDF files of class slides). Generally, it is a better layout tool when you are mixing a lot of text with graphics (whether they come from Illustrator or Photoshop).

Complete the following Adobe InDesign tutorial pages. If you have InDesign at home, make sure to click the Get Files button at top of each page so that you can work along with the tutorials.
