Jo Benitez's Bio
Graphic Designer | Chico State Student | Cat mom
Hi! I'm Jo, your local friendly music enthusiast as well as designer. Some facts about me are that I was born in Mexicali, Mexico and moved to the United States as a young girl. I grew up in Calexico, bordering Mexicali but visited often so I considered both cities my home. I've always known that I wanted to pursue a creative career. All my life I've dabbled in many hobbies such as singing, guitar, making music, videography, editing, dancing, writing, photography, etc. But one thing that caught my eye the most was design. There was something so appealing to me about seeing your brain's vision come to life that I decided I would make a career out of it. Now, I strive to create graphics and designs that reflect my brain's view of the world. I would like to bring life back to design. I tend to use captivating color and fun to my designs. I believe that creativity should be rewarded in the design world. I also would like to create a space in the design world where Latinos are more welcome and encouraged to pursue their career. Especially immigrant, or first generation individuals. Sometimes, just seeing a familiar face can make a world of difference.
Other things about me are that I have a cat named Beans. He is a four month old baby and I rescued him off the streets near my home. Although, I'd like to think he rescued me instead. I think my cat reflects my own personality pretty well. He can be silly, playful, but a little shy at first with strangers. Once you get to know him, he's all love and cuddles, and a little feisty. Those are some things about me! :)
