About Me
So you want to learn more about me?
Hi! I am glad you asked. I was born Mexicali, Mexico and raised in the sister city Calexico, California. It's a wonderful place to grow up in, as you get the best of both worlds. I get to visit my homeland as often as I can, yet still reap the benefits of living in the United States. It's a hot, hot, place. Since it is located in the Imperial Valley, which is a desert near the South border in California, it gets up to 123 degrees in the summertime. So, I came to Chico, hoping for better climates. It didn't go as planned.
You may ask, why Graphic Design? Why Chico? I would tell you, as a Latina woman in the field, I often feel heavily underrepresented. I was very discouraged at first by my parents, who urged me to pursue a career in medicine or engineering, because that's what you're supposed to do as an immigrant family, you don't get the choice to choose your passion as a career. However, I was set on my goals and I believed in myself and my capabilities. I thought, if not me, who is going to be the one to make the change? Who is going to show those from my land, my hometown, that it is possible to make it out. It doesn't matter where you come from, but it's the courage of taking that leap forward and sticking to your guns. Now, here I am! And well, Chico, it's cheap tuition, and it's beautiful, so I said, why not make it my home!
Thank you for reading this and I hope to hear from you soon!
