My name is John Eatmon. I am in my senior year, and this is my final semester. I am pursuing my degree in game design, focusing on level design. Video games have always been a massive part of my life, and after high school trying to find what I wanted to do, I finally decided to go for it and came to Chico to learn game design. The past couple of years have been great learning everything it takes to build a game from the ground up. The thing I found the most passion for is level design. Taking all the pieces your team created and making a finished level for players to experience is gratifying. Besides my major, I really enjoy reading and playing D&D; I know, super nerdy, but I always like reading about new worlds or creating new ones, so it makes sense im going into a field where we are constantly making new worlds.
After school, I'm hoping to find a job with a game company. I want to go straight in as a level designer, but the video game industry is so competitive that it can be hard to even get an interview within six months of applying, so I'll take what I can get. However, I have a solid plan not to be complacent, to keep working on my skills, and to keep making levels to fill out my portfolio even more after school. Even with all that, I'm excited to get out of school and make some awesome new worlds for people to explore.
