Sophia Villeneuve

Student | CAGD Major |

Hello! My name is Sophia Villeneuve and I am a Junior at Chico State. I’m a student on campus majoring in Computer Animation and Game Development. I’m originally from the Bay Area and went to Westmont High School.

I have an interest in Track and Field, art, and video games. I did track for 6 years and did all the field events you can think of. My interests in art and video games led me to my choice of Chico State, specifically their Computer Animation and Game Development Major.

As a freshman I attended the opening of the Wildcat Gaming Lounge on campus where I made my first friends and joined the Esports club they ran. I used to be a part of the main roster on the Valorant team, which is a 5v5 tactical shooter game.

My favorite class thus far is CAGD 170, called Level Design. This was my first major course I took which had us learn about the gaming industry and the breakdown of what makes a good game. Me and my teammate got to mod the card game “Solitaire” which creates a different way to play and win. This included a point shop, rule sheet and the overall card set up.

Another class I enjoyed and led me to this course was JOUR255. Lecture topics touched on current events and media events that applied to us now. The first assignment was to keep track of all our technology and media intake, similar to how Spotify gives us a rewind every year, breaking down who we listened to, for how long, and genres. Our final was to create and design our own website within Dreamweaver using basic HTML.
