Alpha Phi is an international women’s fraternity founded in 1872 at Syracuse University, making it one of the oldest sororities in the world. I have been blessed to join the sisterhood and am very involved. Our chapter values character, innovation, generosity, and character, which are all things that resonate with me, as well. Getting to know girls with the same values has been great. I have strengthened my friendships with many girls through events, chapter meetings, trips, and even living together. However, Alpha Phi has given me more than just cherishable friendships. After joining Alpha Phi, I instantly wanted to be involved. I now hold an executive position as our Vice President of Membership Recruitment. It has taught me how to lead and collaborate with others, as well as manage my time in an organized manner. Alpha Phi is known for its commitment to philanthropy, particularly through its support of women’s heart health, which is central to its philanthropic efforts. The Alpha Phi Foundation raises funds and awareness for women’s heart disease. Furthermore, while I do not have a direct connection to philanthropy it feels great to be involved in something that gives back nationally and locally.
