Week 1: Class, Web, and HTML Introductions

Intro to this Week

Here we are, the first week of our online Basic Web Design class. Things do work a bit differently with our lecture time being online, but I do have it set up so that we can successfully make it work.

This week we’re covering a lot of information about how the class works, but then we’ll start to get into Dreamweaver (our primary authoring software) so that you can edit your first webpage. Please work your way through the material below, and let me know if you have any questions!

This Week’s Work

We have a series of videos to watch this week to get us going in the class. When appropriate, I’ll link to reference materials used in the lecture/demo. Sometimes there are demo files for you to download so that you can use the same files I’m using while you watch the tutorial on your computer.

1. Syllabus Review

The syllabus gives you pertinent information about how the class works, what is expected of you, and how I’ll be grading you. Please read through the syllabus, and take the short Syllabus Quiz (yes, these will be your first participation points).

2. How Does the Web Work?

A quick video, How Does the Web Work? that shows the basic functions of traffic on the web.
